History of Douglass originates from over 70 years ago. In the 1920's when the U.S.made a rapid growth, one of masterpieces of lighters was created, but later it disappeared in a wave of mass production and mass consumption. It was called Douglass lighter. Its short history can be assumed by the fact that it appeared in a catalog of Sears,Roebuck&Co.in the 1920's.
The lighter was sold at 5 dollars. Compared to other lighters in the catalog which people could buy at approximately 69 cents, the Douglass lighter was amazingly expensive.
So it can be said that the lighter reflected the status of its users. The first feature of the Douglass lighter is craftsmanship that can be observed throughout the entire processes of production.
The second feature of the lighter is incomparable lighting mechanism for which unique action is used.
The lighter looks lightly-built at a first glance, however,it is unimaginably robust and durable due to high workmanship and high assembly technique of individual parts as a result of research and study in reproduction and fabrication. Finish of the lighting roller and other parts that require durability, in particular, including a spring was further enhanced by taking advantage of modern high technology.
